It called this strategy "The AI trade after the trade" and identified 50 stocks that could fall under this category. It takes massive data centers to train and distribute LLMs for public use. An April 17 note from Bank of America led by Thomas Thornton, the head of research marketing, estimates that data centers under construction will initially increase power usage from these facilities by 50%. For the electrical and thermal equipment needed to run data centers, investors can look to Vertiv (VRT), according to Andrew Obin, a research analyst at Bank of America. As demand for data centers grows, these companies are experiencing increased pricing power, according to research analyst David W. Barden.

In fact, "data centers are taking a disproportionate amount of incremental capacity being added by electrical equipment manufacturers." Much of the energy data centers consume is used to train AI models as well as to run them. Natural resources, power supply, funding — the necessities that allow for the existence of the data centers — aren't exactly infinite. The company's business took off last year as data centers began to need more electrical equipment capacity and generated more heat. JPMorgan has a neutral rating on GE with a $124 price target, 5.5% below the stock's Monday close.

Vertiv is well-positioned for gains as its margins recover due to the artificial intelligence boom, according to Bank of America. Analyst Andrew Obin upgraded the data center servicer's shares to buy from underperform and raised his price target 54% to $40 from $26. Artificial intelligence adoption within data centers adds incremental demand for Vertiv's thermal management products," Obin wrote in a Wednesday note. Vertiv's strong portfolio in thermal management , which helps protect IT spaces and data centers, also leaves it better-positioned than its peers to see upsides from AI tailwinds, Obin said. Adoption of AI will drive more graphics processing unit chips into data centers, generating more heat and requiring thermal management, said Obin.

In one chest, Ms. Komara recently recalled, were batik designs from the island of Java, in the other elaborate weavings from Indonesia’s outer islands. She swallowed more wine, inhaled clove-scented smoke from an Indonesian cigarette — and considered how to enrich the heritage of a nation of more than 17,000 islands. Since that melancholic night nearly four decades ago, Ms. Komara has refashioned an ancient art by entwining disparate textile traditions with an aesthetic all her own to create a modern Indonesian silhouette. Her batik and other designs for her fashion house, BINhouse, have transformed a cultural expression that was intricate and lovely but so locked in tradition that it bordered on staid. Ms. Komara, known by her nickname Obin, no longer depends on lampshades for a living as BINhouse has become a global force in spreading batik’s beauty.

Atmus Filtration is worth buying following its initial public offering, Goldman Sachs said. Analyst Jerry Revich initiated coverage of the filtration stock, whose initial public offering took place in late May, at buy. However, he said the company can expand outside the core market that's valued at $15 billion into the broader industrial filtration market valued at $45 billion. And the already existing internal IP should be useful as the filtration technology in the two markets is similar, he said. "In our view, as a standalone company, Atmus will further build on its strengths," Bank of America analyst Andrew Obin said in his upgrade.
